OVER 60, FEMALE AND TRAVELLING ALONE!
Been in a conundrum for weeks about how to start blogging. I had almost too much material and was dizzy with the sheer magnitude of the project! Then today I’ve been saved, I went into the British Museums Manga exhibit and was transfixed, for this was the whole concept of Old Bird Travels Solo. I now knew how to start and to help out my fellow Old Birds. So hello!
THIS IS ALL ABOUT WOMEN OF A CERTAIN AGE (I’M 61) TRAVELLING ALONE. EVERY TRIP YOU’LL COME ON WITH ME WAS TAKEN WITHOUT ANY HELP FROM START TO FINISH. I PLAN, ORGANISE AND MAKE THE TRIPS SOLO SO KNOW THE HIGHS AND LOWS AND THE WONDERFUL AND SOMETIMES FARCICAL EXPERIENCES THAT CAN ENSUE!
VIDEO OF MY TRAVELS IN PICTURES.
Be patient with me. If you have skimmed through the main site WWW.OLDBIRDTRAVELSSOLO.COM you’ll know this is all about courage and the older woman. About being brave enough to go it alone all over the world from your fifties onwards. About having no regrets that you never fulfilled yourself as a human being. About a call to arms!
TIME TO FLY FREE OLD BIRDIES, JUST LIKE ME! COME ON! I’LL HELP!!!
DUST OFF YOUR PASSPORT AND STOP LOOKING TO OTHER PEOPLE TO HELP YOU, YOU’RE GOING TO FLY SOLO!!!
On my travels I have found myself again in many different ways so I want to pass on all the positive energy and love to get you all out there regaining lost confidence and dreams. Don’t worry you’ll soon get the hang of it. I’ll take you on an adventure on the Trans Siberian Express I went on this January ( avoiding tourists is my thing, too cold for them!!) with stunning St Petersburg, Moscow, the frozen Lake Baikal, Mongolia and Beijing en route. From there my screw ups in China, its Wall and Terracotta Army. Then through Vietnam and into Thailands’ interior.
I will blast you with tales of swimming with whale sharks and riding by horse up a mountain to a volcanic lake in the Philippines. Of being chased by wild dogs in Thailand. Of snorkelling with a tortoise in remote Indonesia. The love affair with the orangutans in Borneo. The heartbreak and the wonder of our beautiful planet and how to be just a little bit more mindful in the future.
ONE STEP AT A TIME…
For those who want to start with baby steps (and I don’t blame you) I’ve rocked and rolled through Central Europe and other closer destinations. However I am at this very moment am regrouping for a trip to South America in September!!
Create your own master plan for it. nobody will tell you where you have to go , when and how soon, but get the confidence to DO it, it’s much easier than you think.
